SUMMARY:Meyru
DESCRIPTION:MEYRU 11:15pm\nRHETT REIKO 10pm\nELECTRIC HEART 9pm \nALL TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE. \nTICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR. \nBAR OPENS FOR FOOD AND DRINK AT 6PM. HAPPY HOUR UNTIL 8PM. \nROCK & ROLL HOTEL POLICY. NO EXCEPTIONS: SMILE\, LAUGH\, AND HAVE FUN! \nDespite living in various corners of the country\, Nic\, Steven\, and Tom spent years writing music together one voice memo at a time––it wasn’t until the the three moved to New York City in 2017 when they were able to come together and perform their songs for a small crowd in Brooklyn. The crew’s indie pop melodies\, bolstered by intricate guitar leads and driving bass were quickly grasped by local crowds\, and word of their infectious on-stage camaraderie and energetic live performances quickly spread\, leading to a series of sold out shows throughout downtown Manhattan\, including appearances at landmark venues such as Pianos\, The Bitter End\, and The Bowery Electric. \nInspired by the dynamic pace of their first year in New York\, the band decided to retreat to an abandoned church in North Carolina for the month of September\, where they recorded an original 10 song LP\, Good to See You. Working with Brooklyn-based producer Tyler Brown\, whose work draws from Electronic Neo-Soul and R&B\, helped the band hone their original sound. The songs were then mastered by Grammy award-winning engineer Dan Millice (A$AP Rocky\, Al Green\, 50 Cent)\, whose meticulous approach gave Meyru’s music a polished finish. The intention and craft applied by the whole Meyru team has manifested in a debut album that sounds beautifully focused. \n

DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT \nMOTHER MOTHER: 9:10PM\nWinnetka Bowling League: 8:00PM \nALL TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE. \nNO TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR. SOLD OUT. \nBAR OPENS FOR FOOD & DRINK AT 6PM. Their latest album\, 2017’s No Culture\, produced “The Drugs” a #1 single on the Alt Rock charts in Canada for three consecutive weeks. The alt-rockers first earned critical acclaim with their debut albums Touch Up (2007) and O My Heart (2008). The releases that followed\, Eureka (2011) and The Sticks (2012) delivered the top 5 radio hits “The Stand”\, “Bit By Bit” and “Let’s Fall In Love”\, making the band the second most aired alternative act in Canada in 2012 and 2013. In 2014 they racked up more hits with “Get Out The Way”\, “Monkey Tree” and “Modern Love” from their much-lauded record Very Good Bad Thing. The band has also found success on the road\, most recent tours include sold-out headline dates across North America\, selling out the historic Massey Hall\, and a record-breaking five consecutive sold-out shows at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. \n

SUMMARY:CKY
DESCRIPTION:CKY 9:15pm\nBAND OF TOMORROW 8:00PM \nALL TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE. \nTICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR FOR CASH OR CREDIT PURCHASE. \nBAR OPENS FOR FOOD & DRINK AT 6PM. HAPPY HOUR UNTIL 8PM. \nOnce upon a time\, CKY burned it all down\, with a raucous\, anarchic\, hard\nrock sound soaked in the skate-punk culture that birthed them and a\nhard-partying lifestyle onstage and off that decimated relationships and\nreputations in its wake. Now\, CKY rises from the ashes of the aftermath\nwith The Phoenix \, a bold mission statement that hoists the flag high for big\,\nraw\, authentic\, earth shaking rock n’ roll\, liberated from useless pretense. \nCKY’s sonic rebirth sounds as incendiary\, expansive\, and groovy as the\nJoshua Tree desert where it was made\, and as decadent and funky as the\nstrip-club adjacent rehearsal room where the songs were jammed out into\nsubmission. Each song is a forceful meditation on what makes CKY so killer. \nChad I Ginsburg\, the band’s guitarist and singer\, steps into the frontman\nrole with charisma\, charm\, and bravado\, confidently delivering a diverse\nperformance as he claims a position that was clearly rightfully his to own. \nHe’s joined in enduring partnership and musical and personal chemistry by\nfellow CKY cofounder\, Jess Margera\, the drummer whose extracurricular\nwork in projects like The Company Band (with guys from Clutch and Fireball\nMinistry) expanded CKY’s horizons as much as Ginsburg’s solo work has as\nwell. The duo returned to their primary project refreshed and reenergized\,\nwith bassist Matt Deis (ex-All That Remains)\, who first joined CKY in 2005.\nGuns N’ Roses\, Metallica\, and Deftones have all personally invited CKY on\ntour\, cementing a legacy as a hard-charging live act. CKY built a worldwide\nfanbase of dedicated acolytes\, friends\, and supporters\, lovingly dubbed the\nCKY Alliance\, with a broader group of musicians\, athletes\, and other\ncreative types in the CKY family\, both literally and figuratively.\nCarver City (2009) debuted at #4 on the Hard Music charts. It was the\nsecond CKY album to debut in the Top 50 on the Billboard 200: An Answer\nCan Be Found (2005) hit #35 upon its release. But if anything\, The Phoenix is\na spiritual successor to CKY’s breakthrough\, Infiltrate•Destroy•Rebuild\n(2002)\, with a hint of the appropriately titled debut\, Volume 1 (1999). \n“We’re grown adults now with an eagle-eye perspective on who we are\,\nwhat we do\, and how to do it right\,” Ginsburg declares\, with matter-of-fact\ncertainty. “None of us are out there in the clouds. We’re pretty\nwell-grounded people that have an honest perspective on where we’re at.” \nAnd where they are at is with a career-defining album that reshapes the\nbrightest spots of CKY’s past while charging forward into a bright\,\nself-assured future. “We made sure that we went into the studio with our\nguns blazing\,” Margera says. “This isn’t a bunch of parts thrown together.\nWe focused on the songs. We didn’t ‘have to’ make this album\, we wanted\nto.” \nIn keeping with CKY tradition\, The Phoenix was recorded at the famed\nRancho De La Luna studio in California\, which has played host to Daniel\nLanois\, Queens Of The Stone Age\, Victoria Williams\, Fu Manchu\, and Mark\nLanegan\, among others. The studio was founded by David Catching\, touring\nguitarist for Eagles Of Death Metal (among many credits)\, and late “desert\nsound” visionary Fred Drake. \n“It’s one thing reading about the vibe at Rancho\,” Margera says of the\nlocale where the notoriously cool 1997 collaborative musical collective\nseries known as The Desert Sessions took place. “And then it’s another\nthing to actually go out there and make an album. You’re like\, ‘Ok\, I get it.’”\n“It’s the center of something out there\,” Ginsburg agrees. “There’s a\nmagnetic pull or something that lands directly in Dave’s backyard. I was just\nrelaxed\, waking up in the morning and getting right into the music.”\nThe goal was to make an authentic\, organic\, and “real” rock n’ roll record\,\nuncompromising in its dedication to capturing what CKY actually sounds\nlike playing in a room together\, experienced at that gut-wrenching level of\nartistic intensity and swinging groove. As Margera explains: “Listen to a\nZeppelin or Pink Floyd song and put that up against the copy/paste albums\nthat are just snapped into a ‘grid\,’ or whatever. There’s no comparison.”\nThe Phoenix touches on anger\, revenge\, good versus evil\, desperation\,\nrecovery\, growth\, knowledge\, survival\, enemies\, friends\, and more. There’s\nheavy\, dark\, signature CKY grooves\, “fun shit\,” “fancy shit\,” driving and\nalmost danceable stuff\, big melodies\, total ear candy\, immense diversity…\nThere are even parts that sound like maybe Quincy Jones was given the\nkeys to Rancho De La Luna and just ran amok with the dudes in CKY.\nThe totality of the CKY experience is perhaps best summarized by a quote\nfrom enigmatic comic book legend\, author\, and self-proclaimed magician\,\nAlan Moore. “My experience of life is that it is not divided up into genres;\nit’s a horrifying\, romantic\, tragic\, comical\, science-fiction cowboy detective\nnovel. You know\, with a bit of pornography if you’re lucky.” \nMargera observes that it was “a perfect storm of events” that led to CKY\nbecoming a pretty popular name. “When it’s happening\, you’re not paying\nattention. But once you get a couple of years under your belt\, you realize\,\n‘Holy shit\, man. That was lucky as hell that happened to us!’\, ya’ know?”\n“We’re feeling rather lucky\,” Ginsburg agrees. “We’re not taking things for\ngranted. We’re saturated in gratitude. It’s an incredibly humbled CKY\, with\na fire to last another twenty years. The point is to go play rock n’ roll and\nappreciate everybody else who does it\, too. It’s a lucky job to have.” \n

DESCRIPTION:The Movielife (8:45pm)\nTravis Shettel (8:00pm) \nALL TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE. \nTICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR FOR CASH OR CREDIT PURCHASE. \nBAR OPENS FOR FOOD & DRINK AT 6PM. HAPPY HOUR UNTIL 8PM. \n\nBand will be playing BOTH 40 Hour Train Back to Penn and The Movielife Has a Gambling Problem in their entirety \nPeople that love to make music make a choice at a certain point in their lives. They can go either of two ways: they can make it a hobby\, or they can make it a life. Making a life of it requires a lot of commitment\, sacrifice and will to follow what you want. For five guys from the Long Island hardcore scene\, the choice was pretty obvious. “We all quit our jobs and school to tour basically full time\,” says Vinny Caruana\, The Movielife’s singer and lyricist. “It’s all we wanna do.” \nThe Movielife was a rock/pop-punk band from Baldwin\, New York (Long Island). Formed in the late 90s\, the band put out its first full-length\, It’s Go Time\, in 1999 on Fadeaway Records. By this point\, the classic lineup of Vinnie Caruana (vocals)\, Brandon Reilly (guitar)\, Alex Amiruddin (guitar)\, Phil Navetta (bass) and Evan Baken (drums) had coalesced. The band built up a strong local following on the strength the album and their live show\, and soon jumped to Revelation Records\, releasing This Time Next Year in 2000. Like all subsequent released by the band\, the album was produced by Brian McTernan. The band toured hard to support the record\, including an appearance at the first Skate and Surf Festival in the spring 2001 and a long national tour support Boysetsfire and the then-unknown Thursday that summer. Having built a more national fanbase\, helped along by an appearance on the fourth volume of the ever-popular Emo Diaries series\, the band jumped to Drive-Thru Records at the end of the tour\, and released an EP\, Has A Gambling Problem in the fall. Aided by the single “Walking On Glass”\, the Movielife spent much of the next year on the road supporting other Drive-Thru acts\, including Midtown and\, later\, New Found Glory. On that New Found Glory tour\, the band was involved in a serious van accident in North Dakota\, forcing the band off of the road and providing the impetus for the centerpiece of their next full-length. Shortly before the recording of Forty-Hour Train Back to Penn\, which was finally released in February 2003\, Amiruddin departed and was replaced by Dan Navetta. The band embarked on a headlining tour to support the album\, but soon announced that they would call it quits\, playing their last shows in and around the New York City area in late March and early April 2003. By early 2004\, ex-Movielife projects had surfaced\, Brandon Reilly fronting Nightmare of You and Vinnie Caruana fronting I Am the Avalanche. \n

DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT \n10:00PM – GRANDSON\n9:00PM – DES ROCS\n8:00PM – BARLOWLN \nALL TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE. \nSOLD OUT. NO TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR. \nBAR OPENS FOR FOOD & DRINK AT 6PM. HAPPY HOUR UNTIL 8PM. \nGrandson is a 23-year-old alternative artist hailing from Canada. Born in the small town of Englewood\, New Jersey\, he relocated to the cultural melting pot of Toronto at a young age\, and grew up surrounded by music ranging from jazz to rock & roll to rap\, dancehall and R&B. \nAt 17\, he moved to Montreal to attend university\, and began working in nightclubs cleaning tables and DJing. He started writing music at this time\, incorporating the unique blend of sounds he grew up surrounded by. He started experimenting with music production and rapping in 2013\, dropped out of school and headed to Los Angeles to pursue music full time. \nAdopting the “grandson” moniker while living in LA\, he dove deeply into rock influences such as Rage Against the Machine\, Nirvana and Led Zeppelin\, while keeping an ear on the rap/R&B music emerging out of Toronto and alternative acts such as Twenty One Pilots and Hiatus Kaiyote. He found a small community of musicians to work and perform with in LA and eventually formed his band. Reminiscent of early punk and grunge music\, grandson’s live set attempts to create a frantic\, mosh pit-inducing cathartic release of energy for fans. \nSearching for his voice and for meaning in today’s divisive\, chaotic world\, grandson’s songwriting confronts the most pressing issues of his generation\, such as financial inequality\, governmental and environmental accountability and social justice\, giving these topics a soundtrack with a genuine sense of urgency and frustration\, while simultaneously touching on adolescence\, relationships\, and the insecurities and difficulties of growing up through your 20s. When asked about today’s music scene\, he says “I genuinely believe the world needs honest rock and roll\, now more than ever.” \n

SUMMARY:Dilly Dally
DESCRIPTION:915PM – DILLY DALLY\n8:00PM – CHASTITY \nALL TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE. \nTICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR FOR CASH OR CREDIT PURCHASE. \nBAR OPENS FOR FOOD & DRINK AT 6PM. HAPPY HOUR UNTIL 8PM. \nIn the short time since they released their acclaimed debut record\, ‘Sore\,’ Dilly Dally\ntoured the world and took the press by storm\, only to nearly collapse under the weight of their\nown success and call it quits forever. Rising from the ashes with more power and conviction\nthan ever before\, the Toronto rockers’ new album is\, appropriately enough\, titled ‘Heaven\,’ and\nit’s a fierce\, fiery ode to optimism\, a distortion-soaked battle cry for hope and beauty in a world\nof darkness and doubt. Frontwoman Katie Monks describes the songs as coping mechanisms\,\nand the collection does indeed form something of a survival kit for hard times\, but even more\nthan that\, it’s a declaration of faith in the power of music and a burning reminder that we need\nnot wait until the afterlife for things to get better. \nRecorded with producer Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith\, Beck)\, ‘Heaven’ highlights Dilly Dally’s\nrough edges in all their ragged glory\, drawing every potent ounce of energy from the foursome’s\nswampy tones\, raspy vocals\, and volatile rhythm section. While the music is undeniably\nferocious\, there’s uplift woven into the fabric of every track. ‘Heaven’ opens with the dreamy “I\nFeel Free\,” which begins as a floating\, untethered soundscape before transforming into a\nsoaring anthem for a world that’s ready to finally turn the page on all the darkness and\ndisillusion the last few years have wrought. The inexorable “Believe” insists on self-confidence\,\nwhile the driving “Sober Motel” celebrates the lucidity a clear mind\, and the lilting “Sorry Ur Mad”\nmakes a case for releasing yourself from the prisons of anger and resentment. Escape is a\nfrequent goal—from the bruising “Marijuana” to the epic queer tragedy of “Bad Biology”—but it\nultimately solves very little\, at least in any permanent way\, and so the album carves out its own\natheistic religion to get through the day\, a faith that validates our pain as real but responds with\na beaming light of hope (and maybe a little bit of weed). \nMonks and guitarist Liz Ball originally formed the band in high school after bonding over a\nshared love for explosive\, grungy rock and roll. By the time they recorded their debut\, the pair\nhad fleshed out the lineup with bassist Jimmy Tony and drummer Benjamin Reinhartz and hit a\nblistering stride that floored critics on both sides of the Atlantic. Rolling Stone hailed ‘Sore’ as a\n“blazing” breakout that “sounds like an unleashed id with a sick distortion pedal\,” while Fader\nsaid it “hits that ever-elusive sweetspot between total recklessness and sly control\,” and\nPitchfork raved that the record “oozes with female desire” and offers up “a heavy swagger\nredolent of some of the best ever alt-rock.” In the UK\, The Guardian praised the band’s\n“bludgeoning bass\, gnarly guitars and red-raw vocals\,” and The Line Of Best Fit dubbed it “a\nseminal first album.” The music earned Dilly Dally dates with Grouplove\, METZ\, and Fat White\nFamily in addition to their first-ever international headline tour and festival appearances from\nOsheaga to Field Day. \n

SUMMARY:All Them Witches
DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT \n1010PM – ALL THEM WITCHES\n9:00PM – PLAGUE VENDOR \nALL TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE. \nTICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR FOR CASH OR CREDIT PURCHASE. \nBAR OPENS FOR FOOD & DRINK AT 6PM. HAPPY HOUR UNTIL 8PM. \nBy most fifth LPs\, the band’s sound is pretty set. Parameters established. Refinement dissipated. You get a to-formula execution of what’s worked in the past. Fair enough. All Them Witches go a harder route. \nIn 2017\, the Nashville four-piece offered what might’ve otherwise become their own template in their fourth album (second for New West)\, Sleeping Through the War. It brought a larger production value thanks to oversight from producer Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell\, Shooter Jennings\, etc.)\, found them using choral vocals\, expanded arrangements\, bigger sounds than anything they’d done before. \nThey could’ve easily fallen into a pattern of watered-down clones of that record. Easily. \nSo naturally in a year they’ve thrown it all to the Appalachian wind\, turned the process completely on its head and gone the other way: recording in a cabin in Kingston Springs\, about 20 miles outside of Nashville on I-40\, with guitarist Ben McLeod at the helm. Self-produced. Take that\, expectation. \nThe result\, mixed by Rob Schnapf (Beck\, Elliott Smith\, Kurt Vile)\, is the most intimate\, human-sounding album All Them Witches have recorded and another redefinition of who they are as a band. Introducing keyboardist/percussionist Jonathan Draper to the fold with McLeod\, bassist/vocalist Charles Michael Parks\, Jr.\, and drummer/graphic artist Robby Staebler\, All Them Witches’ ATW isn’t self-titled by mistake. \nIt’s the band confirming and continuing to develop their approach\, in the devil’s boogie of “Fishbelly 86 Onions\,” the organ-laced groove and masterful flow of “Half-Tongue\,” the build of “HJTC” and the fluid jam in closer “Rob’s Dream.” You can hear it in the mellow patience of that last track\, never lost but always wandering\, and in “1st vs. 2nd\,” where they turn from a frenetic shake to some purposefully metal-ish riffing while still holding onto gut-tightening tension. \nAnd what do they do with that? Some overblown payoff? Hell no. They cut it short\, drift into noise and then dig into “Half-Tongue” ahead of the moodier “Diamond\,” which\, true to its name\, seems to turn any light that touches it into a prism. This is a band who delight in the exploration\, in finding new rules to break\, and in continually learning new ways to do so. \nATW is a reaction to being a “bigger” act. To playing bigger shows\, bigger tours\, etc. From the sustained consonants in Parks’ vocals\, to the sleek basslines that play off the can’t-sit-still-won’t-sit-still swing in Staebler’s drums\, to McLeod’s commanding slide in “Workhorse” and drifting melancholy at the outset of “Harvest Feast\,” ATW is their laying claim to the essential facets of their identity. \nAnd most crucial to that identity is its shifting nature. All Them Witches didn’t get to this point by resting on laurels\, and if anything\, the urgency of these tracks – fast pushers and sleepy jams alike – is among their greatest strengths. \nIt’s a rawer delivery\, as stage-ready as the band itself\, and it captures All Them Witches in this moment. Is ATW who they’ll be tomorrow? Who the hell knows? Check back in and we’ll find out together. That’s the whole idea.\nLess –\nVideos & Press \n Hear All Them Witches Reinvent 70s-Style Psych-Rock on New Album ‘ATW’ \n [Revolver] Nashville quartet hails to Blue Cheer\, Floyd\, Sabbath\, while never sounding derivative ATW is the latest album from All Them Witches\, a Nashville psych-rock band that nods to Blue Cheer\, Pink Floyd\, Black Sabbath and all manner of Seventies rock\, yet doesn’t fall into the standard traps the ensnare much of the Deep Purple–worshipping […]\n All Them Witches Bring ‘Diamond’ to Life with an Eerie Video \n [Flood] Nashville’s sludgiest jam band carry over their genre-blending brilliance to video for their latest single\, announce US and world tour dates. SUMMARY:Prisms
DESCRIPTION:DC shoegaze darlings Prisms formed in 2007 as an epic supergroup\, created by a collective of friends that at the time were in various other musical projects and who wanted to push themselves to explore something totally new. \nThe resulting Prisms sound\, crafted over three studio albums\, is a swirling\, deep\, distinct work of shoegazy dreampop. With a wide range of influences from the guitar-glittered shores of My Bloody Valentine\, to the clean crunch of Mew\, to the emotion and power of The Appleseed Cast\, Prisms continues to explore and expand their sound. \nPrisms’ latest album\, Noise\, is their most exploratory and focused sound to date. Working with Richmond’s Will Beasley\, over a year of work went into creating a strong group of seven songs that represents both where Prisms is now and where it is going in this future. \n

SUMMARY:Honest Haloway video release party
DESCRIPTION:Honest Haloway began as a solo passion project helmed by songwriter Tim Kratzer in a bedroom in Washington DC in 2010. In the early stages\, the music was nothing more than a creative outlet where he could convey his wordless evocations into a collection of songs without the intent or expectations to produce tangible outcomes\, let alone see the stage. \nBy 2011 Kratzer released his debut EP titled “The Towns” featuring synth heavy songs that contained remnants of his previous band\, The Vita Ruins\, but with a more lush and melodic sound and a deeper level of intimate song writing influenced by his personal life. He soon translated the music into live performances where he played dozens of shows during which the project developed into a full band with a rotating group of local musicians. His follow up was 2014’s Perigee\, which proved to be a smooth departure from his previous work delineating a much brighter and cleaner dream pop effect to the otherwise lyrically melancholy songs. \nAfter 2 EP’s\, several years of performing and opening for larger acts\, Honest Haloway has now evolved into a 5 member band consisting of D.C. music veterans\, Fico Lazzaro-Colon and Ed Barnabas (both of Cedars\, and Ms. Director)\, Greg Balleza (The Vita Ruins\, Incredible Change) & Alfonso Bravo (Rival Skies). Together\, the members have progressed and redefined the band’s essence by each bringing their own unique stamp to the new guitar heavy tracks\, which are noticeably darker and more transient than those of previous works. Honest Haloway is abandoning the standard album release cycle and is set to release a collection 10 new songs over the course of two years in 2019 & 2020. \n
