Formed in Rohnert Park, California, the band originally formed as Violent World until later changing the name to Ceremony. In 2005, the band released the EP Ruined on Malfunction Records. This release was followed by their critically acclaimed first full-length album, Violence Violence, which included a re-recorded version of the Ruined EP. 2008 saw the release of Still Nothing Moves You, the band’s first release on Bridge 9 Records, described by Keith Carman in Exclaim! magazine as “hardcore’s equivalent of Hiroshima”, which placed on Billboard’s Top Internet and Top Heatseekers charts in August 2008. After touring all around the world with bands including Blacklisted, Converge, and AFI, they have released new music, including their third full-length album Rohnert Park in 2010. In 2011, the band confirmed they had signed with Matador Records, and their final Bridge 9 release would be a covers-only EP, featuring the band’s take on songs by Urban Waste, Pixies, Crisis, Eddie and the Subtitles, Vile and Wire. In March 2012, the band released the album Zoo on Matador Records which was a departure from the harder style even more so than the Rohnert Park album was, with the new record focusing on a more pre-hardcore punk sound in the style of Wire’s Pink Flag (1977) album.
Nothing was formed in 2011 by Domenic Palermo. Previously Palermo was the brains behind the early 2000's hardcore/punk act Horror Show. in 2002 Horror Show was put on hold after Palermo was incarcerated for a stabbing that eventually led to a 2 year prison sentence. Upon his return Palermo would take a lengthy hiatus from music. In 2011 Palermo released a demo tape titled "Poshlost" under the moniker NOTHING. After several attempts at constructing a solid lineup for the band Palermo met Brandon Setta. Setta would bring a lush, rich soundscape and a fresh approach to Palermos vision for Nothing. Setta and Palermo would handle the writing for the next release, a very rare 12" EP that was released on Japanese boutique label Big Love Records called Suns And Lovers( A play off of the D.H. Lawernce book). It was limited to 300 copies and the bands share was donated back to the label for a Tsunami Relief Charity.

DC has seen a lot of young punks take the reins and start some awesome bands and we have been lucky enough to witness it all. Pure Disgust is at the top of that heap. Mixing some mean as shit hardcore punk with seriously catchy oi, this demo is a rager and a stomper for sure. For fans of Blitz, SSD, and of course, 86 Mentality.
